Welcome to "Story Time with Juicy". The name "Juicy" came about years and years ago when my very young nephew started to speak. He called my mum (his grandmother), Nansy and my dad (his grandfather), Bobsy, and when it was my turn, I was called "Juicy". When I was a little girl, I remember my wonderful father reading engaging and imaginative children's books to me. I loved hearing him read and making the words on the pages come to life. Our house was full of books and I am so appreciative that from a young age, I was encouraged to read and dream.
As a former Australian primary school teacher and Assistant Language Teacher in Japan, I believe that a love of literature and reading from a young age has a significant impact and benefit towards learning - learning about and exploring our world, our feelings, different cultures and experiences through the wonderful pages of books.
“Not all readers are leaders, but all leaders are readers.” U.S. President Harry S. Truman
At "Story Time with Juicy", our intended audience is young children and families who enjoy time together viewing a read-aloud book found on our Website and YouTube channel. We focus on showing the text so that our audience can read along with us and gain experience in the form and rhythm of the language.
“When I look back, I am so impressed again with the life-giving power of literature. If I were a young person today, trying to gain a sense of myself in the world, I would do that again by reading, just as I did when I was young.”Maya Angelou
At "Story Time with Juicy", our aim is to encourage children to develop a passion for books and storytelling, and participate in the magical adventures literature can bring.
The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.Dr. Seuss
